01

Get help

Email Team Hydra. Tell us your HydraCode version, the device or server it happens on, and what you expected to happen. The same address handles account, privacy and data requests, security reports (see the security policy) and questions about the terms.

support@teamhydra.dev
  • Chat with other users: the Hep.gg Discord

02

Sign in on a phone

The quickest way is a sign-in code from somewhere you are already signed in:

  1. On a signed-in desktop, open Settings, Sync, Sign in a phone. Or sign in at code.hep.gg/account and choose "Show a sign-in code".
  2. In the HydraCode app, tap Scan Code and point the camera at the QR code, or tap Enter Code and type the eight characters. The hyphen is optional. The iPhone Camera app can scan the QR code too.
  3. The desktop or the web page confirms as soon as your phone is in.

A code lasts five minutes and works once. If it has expired, show a new one. You can also tap Sign In with Browser and use an emailed link or your Hep.gg account, the same way you sign in on the desktop.

03

My servers do not appear

The app lists the servers and desktops linked to your account. If one is missing or will not open:

  • Link it to your account. A headless server joins the account by itself when a desktop signed in to the account connects to it. You can also run hydra account link on the server. A desktop is on the account while you are signed in on it. Check the list on code.hep.gg/account.
  • Update to 0.2.2 or newer. Phones can only connect to servers and desktops running HydraCode 0.2.2 or later. Headless servers update themselves within about 30 minutes of a release; update a desktop from the app.
  • Check it is online and that "Let devices on my account connect to this computer" is on (see section 06).
  • Removed machines stay removed. A machine you removed from the account comes back only when you pair it again from a desktop or run hydra account link on it.
  • Pull down on Settings, Servers in the app to refresh the list.

A server that is not on your account can still be paired directly: in the app open Settings, Servers, Add a Server Manually, and paste or scan a pairing link from hydra pair on the server, or from Settings, Connections, Authorized clients on a desktop.

04

Tailscale or the relay

The app always tries a direct connection first, over Tailscale or your local network. When it cannot reach a machine that way, it connects through the HydraCode relay at code.hep.gg, which works from any network with no setup.

  • Direct is faster and keeps your traffic between your phone and your machine. Install Tailscale on your phone and sign in to the same tailnet as your machine, or join the same local network.
  • The relay carries the same connection through code.hep.gg, encrypted with TLS on each leg and never stored. It is not end-to-end encrypted; the privacy policy explains what that means.

To keep a machine off the relay entirely, turn off account access on it and pair your phone with a link instead. A paired phone connects only directly.

05

Notifications

  • Allow notifications when the app asks, or in the app under Settings, Notifications. Alerts while the app is closed need you to be signed in to your account.
  • Alerts come from headless servers: when a turn finishes or fails, when an agent needs your approval, and when it has a question. Threads on desktops do not send alerts.
  • You are not alerted about the thread you are looking at. While the app is open it shows its own banners instead of push alerts.
  • Choose which alerts you get under "Notify me when", and how much they show under Push previews: Full message, or Minimal for only the server and thread title.
  • Approve and Decline on a notification need your phone unlocked.
  • Nothing arriving? Check that HydraCode is allowed in the iOS Settings app (Notifications) and not silenced by a Focus, that the server is online and on 0.2.2 or newer, and that you are signed in.

06

Turning off account access

"Let devices on my account connect to this computer" decides whether phones and other devices signed in to your account can open a machine, directly or through the relay. It is on by default.

  • On a desktop: Settings, Connections, while you are signed in to your account.
  • On a headless server: set "accountAccess": { "enabled": false } in settings.json in its state directory (~/.hydracode/userdata by default).

Turned off, the machine refuses devices on your account, closes their relayed connections and suspends the sessions it gave them until you turn it back on. Devices you paired with a link are not affected. To block a single device instead, revoke it under Authorized clients on that machine; it stays blocked there until you choose Allow again.

07

A lost or old device

Sign in at code.hep.gg/account and revoke the device under Signed-in devices. Its session ends at once, its relayed connections close, and your online machines revoke the access they gave it. Signing out in the app does the same for that phone.

08

Deleting your account

In the app, open Settings, Account, Delete Account. On the web, sign in at code.hep.gg/account and use "Delete your account". Type "delete my account" to confirm.

This removes your account, your synced settings and vault, your machine links and the history your servers synced, API keys, signed-in devices and notification registrations. Nothing on your machines is deleted, and HydraCode keeps working without an account. It cannot be undone. The privacy policy has the details, including what stays in backups and for how long.
